Worship & Sacraments
Baptism is the first step in our initiation into the Christian Community. To have your child baptized requires the following:
  1. Register in the parish if you are not already a member, or provide a permission letter from your pastor for the baptism to take place at St. Stephen.
  2. Schedule a Baptism Preparation class by calling the Parish Center at (847) 824-2026 or emailing **
  3. Complete a Baptismal Information Sheet.
  4. Provide a copy of the baby's birth certificate.

**If you have attended a Baptism Preparation Class at St. Stephen’s in the last two years you only need to complete steps 3-4 to schedule a Baptism date.

Schedule a Baptism
Once the above steps are completed, a Baptism date can be scheduled. Our baptisms are usually scheduled each month on
the First Saturday for English and the Third Saturday for Spanish.  Note: Following Archdiocesan policy, we do not baptize during Lent.

Baptism Preparation Class
The Baptism Preparation Class is one hour long and is usually held on the second Monday of the month at the Parish Center (1253 Everett Ave). Babies are welcome! The session covers the natural symbols of life that the Church uses in baptism: water, oil (Sacred Chrism), sponsor, white garment, and candle. The goal is to increase understanding of those symbols and why they are used, so the richness of Christ’s action during the Baptismal RIte is more meaningful to the family.
Class Dates
(All classes (both English and Spanish are held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM )
